Electricity, from solar panels
| Electricity generated from solar panels is touted as an environmentally friendly. However, analysis of the solar panel production process shows that it is quite resource intensive. This analysis assumes that an average lifespan of solar cell is 25 years, and that it receives global average sunlight (1700kWh/m2 per year). That allows production of about 5500kWh during the lifetime of the solar panel. In addition to solar panels, a complete solar power system includes other components, such as batteries, inverters, etc., however, since all power systems use additional components, we will skip those. However, it takes a lot of cells to make a meaningful amount of power, and they are very fragile, so the individual cells are assembled into panels. The panels hold enough cells to make a useful amount of power and protect the cells from the elements. It doesn't sound too complicated. I was convinced I could do it myself.I started out the way I start every project, by Googling for information on home-built solar panels. I was shocked at how few I found. The fact that very few people were building their own panels led me to think it must be harder to do than I thought. The project got shelved for a while, but I never stopped thinking about it.
Everyday huge amount of solar energy is wasted but it can be utilized in such a way to produce electricity from it. The phenomena is very simple lights sources in which one is sun that is sufficient, emit light and solar cells absorb and light energy is converted into electrical energy. They may help life time by investing one time money.
Yeah, but it is not sustainable as for now. There is simply not enough resources (silver, in particular, see the http://envimpact.org/node/71/bottomline ) to make enough solar panels to supply all, or even most, of the world demand for electricity!
