Forest

Forest is a controversial resource. In theory it should be renewable, unfortunately only about 50% of the fores cut down around the world is properly replanted. The benefits that forests bring into the ecosystem cannot be overestimated. Civilizations, such as the Easter Island civilization known for its enormous stone head statues, collapsed and disappeared just because they cut down all their forests. In modern times, Haiti is a classic example of a country collapsing due to deforestation. That is the reason for the very high relative importance number for the forests.
