Nitrogen oxides pollution

We put nitrogen dioxide (NO2), nitric oxide (NO), and nitrous oxide (N2O) in this category, even though their effects and toxicity are slightly different. In general, they contribute to smog, acid rain, production of ozone, are classified as a greenhouse gas, about 250 times as potent as carbon dioxide (according to IPCC), and are harmful to human health. In average, the US government put their toxicity as 300-1000 times that of carbon dioxide (source). We will use 500 as an average of all these numbers.
